Stephen Vaught
Stephen received his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Virginia Tech where he served as a Co-Director of Personal Training for the University's personal training program. Additionally, while at Virginia Tech, Stephen served as the Strength Training Program Coordinator for the University's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Stephen has over 12 years experience working with clients of all ages, fitness levels and medical histories. Stephen is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise and a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute.
Before founding API in June 2004, Stephen served as the Fitness Director and Personal Training Coordinator at the Skyline Sport & Health Club (Falls Church, VA) and the Annapolis Athletic Club (Annapolis, MD).
Dan Riser
A leader in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years, Dan Riser is a nationally renowned and respected fitness professional. Dan received his Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science from Lock Haven University in addition to earning certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and American Council on Exercise. Dan has addressed corporate, entertainment and small business audiences throughout the country with his dynamically motivating seminars and workshops. His expertise enabled him to reach millions of exercisers as a cast member on ESPN's #1 rated fitness show Flex Appeal.
Dan's professional experience and specialties range from general fitness and weight-loss to post-rehabilitation, physical therapy and elite athlete training. His ability to connect and identify with his clients' needs while educating and motivating them to go above and beyond their own expectations is second to none!
Maria Ulbricht
Maria has worked in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years. A former professional dancer, she has always enjoyed teaching, and sharing her passion for movement. Maria earned her Bachelor's Degree from Catholic University and has numerous certifications in personal training, as well as Pilates, Spinning, Kickboxing, and her favorite way to move, Yoga. Maria's most recent professional achievement, earning certification as a Holistic Health Counselor, has enabled her to train and educate clients in a more creative, successful way. While teaching clients how to eat healthier, curb cravings and food-combine properly, she also works with them to find meaning and purpose in their lives. Clients have found this innovative program healing to mind, body and spirit, as well as a wildly successful approach to weight loss.
Kristen Jakubac
Kristen received her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Towson University. Kristen is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Track and Field Coach through the US Track and Field Association. Kristen, a competitive Tri-Athlete, believes that exercise should be FUN and that exercise, combined with proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, will maximize health benefits.
Bo Danton
Bo is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Grove City College (Grove City, PA) in 2004 where he was a two time Scholar Athlete and All Conference Wide Receiver. Before coming on board with API, Bo was the Fitness Director at Gold's Gym in Bowie, MD. Bo has been training in the fitness industry for over 7 years. Over that time, he has worked with clients from all different backgrounds ranging from athletes both young and old, post rehabilitation, weight loss focused, and clientele simply looking to feel better about themselves and improve their overall quality of life. His knowledge and positive training style have lead to great results and accomplished goals among numerous clients.
Paula Bathras
Paula earned her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from The Notre Dame of Maryland University and her Masters in Special Education from Loyola College. As an athlete Paula served as Captain of both the NCAA DII Field Hockey and Lacrosse Teams, and was a two time All American in each of her sports. Professionally, Paula has over 7 years in the fitness and training industry. She has served as Fitness Director, Instructor, Personal Trainer and High School Lacrosse Coach and has worked with numerous age groups and populations. In addition, Paula previously was the Director of the Under Armour Combine Training Center where she worked daily with UA employees and sponsored athletes.
Tony Bryan
Tony has over 23 years of experience working the athletes of all ages. Tony is an Education Specialist for the National Aerobics Fitness Trainers Association and is a certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titlest Performance Institute. As a volunteer Golf Pro for the First Tee Program in Prince Georges County, Tony says that "As a volunteer golf pro for the First Tee programs in Maryland, it’s incredibly rewarding to assist our young golfers in becoming respectable young people and players. Here at API my goal is to ensure that the API Golf Fitness programs deliver beyond the expectations of our junior golfers, parents and their coaches. Thus enabling them to reach their goals as a top player." Before joining the API team, Tony worked as a Fitness Wellness Director for Health and Human Services (HHS).
