High School Athletes (ages 14 - 18)
Each API high school athlete has the opportunity to create a personalized training program incorporating each of the following program options.
Strength Training (ST) The foundation of athletic performance and injury prevention begins with the development of stability, strength and flexibility across all joints and throughout an athlete's movement patterns. Each athlete will receive an individualized resistance training program reflective of age, gender, sport, medical history and training experience. API's high school ST program will emphasize:
- Balance and Proprioception
- Core Stability and Strength

- Joint Specific Stability and Mobility
- Muscular Strength and Power

Speed Development-Directional Change (SD-DC)Speed, a measure of how fast an athlete can sprint short distances, will be trained and enhanced as a consistent part of a well-rounded training program. Directional Change (Agility) occurs in all planes of motion: side-to-side, forward-to-backward, backward-to-forward, 45°, 90°, 180°, 360° and every ° and direction in between. An athlete trained to make a quick and efficient directional change will improve in all phases of sport performance. API's high school SD-DC program will emphasize:
- Dynamic Flexibility
- Linear Speed Development
