Peggy Machoian, Tennis Director
Peggy is an accomplished player and instructor. As a player, Peggy has achieved regional, national and world rankings including:
- Ranked #1 in Mid-Atlantic in 35, 40, and 45 divisions in 1998
- Nationally Ranked in Top 7 for last 20 years
- Finished #6 in World Championships in 1998
In addition to her achievements on the court, Peggy is a proven ambassador of the game and an inspiration to her students and fellow players. In 2000, Peggy received the Mid-Atlantic Adult Sportsmanship Award as recognition of her on-court performances and her appreciation of the game and her competition.
Peggy is certified through the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and offers private lessons, clinics and tournament coaching to players of all ages and skill levels. Email Peggy
Andrew Carlson, Junior Tennis Academy Director
Andrew Carlson graduated from The Ohio State University in 2001 with a degree in Business Administration, achieving Academic All Big Ten honors in both 1996 and 1997. Andrew played on The Ohio State tennis team throughout his college career, and earned the position of Varsity Team Captain for his senior year. In 2000 Carlson was Ranked Number 2, nationally, and in the same year, qualified for the NCAA doubles tournament. Carlson's college team won the Big Ten title in 2001, after which he played on the ATP professional circuit for three years. One of many notable achievements during his career on the professional circuit was winning the Legg Mason Wild Card Challenge in both singles and doubles in 2003, and moving on to the doubles quarterfinals.
Andrew is a USPTA certified teaching professional with over 14 years of tennis teaching experience. He has held various positions in the tennis industry with players of all ages, levels, and abilities. Most recently, Andrew was the Tennis DIrector at the U.S. Naval Academy Brigade Sports Complex. As API's Junior Tennis Academy Director, and the father of two young daughters, Andrew brings top level instruction and looks forward empowering all junior players to exceed even their own expectations on the courts and beyond.
Mike Hudson, Tennis Professional
Mike Hudson is a PTR certified Tennis Professional, and is dedicated to helping young area tennis players improve not only their skills on the court, but also their love for the game. Mike has been leading the Broadneck H.S. Bruins Varsity Tennis Team as Head Coach for the past 7yrs. Before that, Mike lived in Boone, NC, where he was the Head Tennis Coach at Watauga High School for 6 yrs. Although he does teach adult clinics and lessons, Mike's specialties are teaching the popular 10 & Under and 8 & Under Tennis Clinics, as well as lessons to children of all ages. Aime Ngounoue, Tennis Professional
Aime Ngounoue joins API's professional coaching staff as a USPTA certified tennis professional with a distinguished playing and teaching career. Before arriving in the US, he was the Cameroon Junior Men's Champion in 1986, and Gold Medalist at the 1987 Central African Games. Aime also participated in several Davis Cup tournaments, representing Cameroon in the African Division from 1889-1995, and was a Finalist of the All African University games in Egypt 1997. Aime continued his tennis career as a tennis professional at Sophia Country tennis club in France, later moving to Bethesda, MD to teach tennis and physical education at Lycee Rochambeau (French International school). Aime then joined the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation (WTEF) where he implemented the QuickStart tennis program for 10 and under players, and coached and mentored numerous junior and high school level players. He also trained several teams of USTA Mid-atlantic senior league. Now Joining the API team, Aime looks forward to helping junior players to improve game and life skills on and off the tennis court with his own combination of hard work, discipline and fun.
Mike Machado, Tennis Professional
Mike Machado has 23 years of teaching and coaching experience. As a varsity player in college, he taught numerous summer tennis camps at Frostburg State University in Maryland and Camp Skylemar in Maine. He has played on and coached various men's and mixed USTA teams that have gone on to district, sectional and national championships. Mike enjoys teaching both adult and youth tennis clinics as well as private lessons. He has taught junior elite, advanced tournament, intermediate, high school prep, teen beginners, young beginners, rising/future start, and quickstart clinics as well as adult rusty racquets, aerobic, cardio, and competitive drills at the club since 2004. He captains the Baltimore A -League interclub team of 4.5 and up players. For any age, any skill level, Mike Machado knows what it takes to help you reach your tennis goals!
Bronwyn Williams, Tennis Professional
Bronwyn began teaching tennis at the age of 15 and has been USPTR certified since 1992. She attended Mount St. Mary's College on a Division 1 scholarship, winning several Northeast Conference titles and was ranked in the top 60 nationally. She also served as Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at her alma mater where she led the women's team to a conference title and was voted the Men's Conference Coach of the Year. In 2002, she was elected to her college's Hall Of Fame. Since 1992, Bronwyn has continued to teach at the Ray Campbell Tennis Camp and at other clubs while maintaining a full time job. She is an active participant in the USTA leagues and assists with junior tournaments throughout the year. Bronwyn's years of experience, knowledge and expertise can help you dramatically improve your game!
